Review : Revlon Photoready Foundation

Here's Part 1 of my Revlon PhotoReady Collection review. Its my first time to try High Definition makeup, been lemming for this ever since I read good reviews about this line. Imagine my surprise when I was asked to review the products! =)

Revlon PhotoReady™ Collection

Okay, I'll review the Photoready foundation first.

PRODUCT INFO from REVLON:
* Delivers soft, luminous airbrushed finish in any light
* Photochromatic pigments bend, reflect and diffuse light to erase every flaw
* Complete yet undetectable coverage
* Oil free, Fragrance Free
* SPF 20
* Can be used alone or in combination with either the PhotoReady Powder OR PhotoReady Translucent Finisher

RETAIL PRICE: Php 975 (about $20)

WEIGHT : 30 ml / 1 fl. oz

SHADES : Available in several shades.
*image borrowed from REVLON*

Shades available locally:
Shell, Nude, Natural Beige, Medium Beige, Cool Beige

WHAT I LIKE:
* sheer-medium (but buildable) coverage
* has spf 20
* unscented
* not mask like or fake looking
* my face looks glowing coz of the tiny shimmers
* lightweight - doesn't feel heavy on the face
* spreads easily, non- sticky
* no allergies or breakouts
* love the pump packaging!
* my face doesn't look shiny after an hour or two (i have normal skin w/ oily t-zone)

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
* limited shades available locally- but I'm glad SHELL perfectly matched my NC20 skintone.
* still used concealer on my undereyes, it looked brighter/ illuminated after applying the foundation - but it still didn't totally cover the "darkness" LOL

TIPS:
You only need a pump or two to cover your face and neck area. You can use either a brush or a sponge to apply. Apply in thin layers until you get the coverage you want.

If you have severe pimple marks, scars etc, I think the foundation will not totally cover (since it doesn't have full coverage when used alone) -
but it will help reflect light on your problem areas so that its less noticeable.

Some people noticed the visible shimmers especially under daylight - to tone this down apply loose powder. But in my experience, i'm not bothered by it coz its hardly visible (on me).

ADDICTION FACTOR:
I love it!

RATING :
4 out of 5.

Review : Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Mud Masque

I rarely use masks since I'm to lazy to wait for a few minutes (for it to dry) and wash it off. My usual routine every night is just removing makeup with baby wipes, use a gentle facial wash and toner (Celeteque) and exfoliate once a week using St. Ives Apricot scrub (if i remember haha). One thing that intrigued me the most about this masque is the name itself, "chocolate"! I love chocolates! Read on to know more about this yummy skin treat...

*photo borrowed from Spanaticz*

PRODUCT INFO:
Treat yourself to a mud masque with a difference! Rich in natural ingredients this deep cleansing chocolate mud masque will help to unblock pores, allowing impurities to be drawn out. Coupled with the skin healing properties of Dead sea salt and the moisturising benefits of Cocoa butter and Shea butter, you will be left with a renewed, rehydrated and younger looking skin. Made in UK.

TO USE: To benefit fully we fully recommend: thorougly cleanse face with warm water only. Apply evenly to face and neck, avoiding eyes and lips. Now lie back and relax and let the masque do its work. Leave on for 10-15 mins or until dry. Rinse with water. Pat dry. Use weekly.

WARNING: Natural ingredients may vary in color. Like all toiletries, these masque are best kept out of children. Avoid eyes. Test for irritancy before use.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 78 /pack. Available in leading drugstores & supermarkets nationwide.

WEIGHT : 20g or 0.7 oz

VARIANTS : Available in more than 10 yummy masque variants to choose from.
> Chocolate Mud masque
> Cucumber Peel-off masque
> Aloe vera tonic masque
> Peach kernel & walnut exfoliating masque

> Dead sea calming face tonic
> Lemon & Ginseng detox tonic
> Hot Vanila Fudge Sauna (self-heating)

> Natural Orange & Vit. C Invigorating Face Tonic
> Plant Collagen Anti-stress face tonic
> Spearmint & Tea Tree Soothing Face Tonic
> Zen Flower Sensitive Masque

> Bearberry & Licorice Whitening masque

WHAT I LIKE:
* no stinging or itching sensation
* smells yummmy!
* inexpensive compared to going to a spa for a facial
* sachet contains a lot of product
* tightening effect when the mask starts to harden, like its drawing out impurities. The next day after using it, I can still feel my face a bit tightened LOL.
* my face felt clean and moisturised afterwards, to think I didn't apply moisturiser yet.
* skin looked brighter and firmer instantly. No kidding!

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
* nothing. I just only wish its available in big tube packaging! =)

TIPS:
To test whether you're allergic to a product, dab a small amount at the back of your ears or the inner side of your arm. Wait for 30 mins to an hour and check if there's any sign of itching, redness etc.

ADDICTION FACTOR:
I'm addicted! Will try the other variants especially the Hot vanilla fudge. Will try to add this to my routine and use this once a week.

RATING :
5 out of 5.

Watermarking Photos

I remember Donnarence's post regarding the Importance of Watermarking Photos.

"What is a Watermark? - a pattern of bits inserted into a digital image, audio or video file that identifies the file's copyright information (author, rights, etc.) The name comes from the faintly visible watermarks imprinted on stationery that identify the manufacturer of the stationery. The purpose of digital watermarks is to provide copyright protection for intellectual property that's in digital format." - from Donnarence.

While I was browsing the net, I saw two sellers that used OUR photo in their online shop. Take a look for yourself.

In the 1st pic, she even placed her own watermark in OUR photo! My friend Joseph Ong took the pic (15 pc concealer palette) for Jessie Glova Cosmetics. I even acknowledged him in my product review of the said palette (see link below). And in the bottom pic, she even cropped my watermark!

Here's my original photo:

I placed the original watermark at the top portion of the photo, and I recently edited it and placed another watermark in the center.
Click here to see my original post.

EDIT (3/29/2010):
Already talked with the seller and she apologized in behalf of her friend who uploaded the photos. Matter is already settled =)

The 2nd seller, she's using OUR picture without placing proper credits.

To these sellers, PLEASE if you want to use MY/OUR photos please include a link to this blog. That's all! Do NOT claim it as your own coz its really rude & offensive.

Review: Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Plumping Treatment

I already have Duwop's Lip Venom, read more to see if this product is at par with the famous lip plumper.

Sally Hansen Lip Inflation in Clear

PRODUCT INFO from Sally Hansen:
  • Refreshingly tingly gloss instantly inflates lips.
  • Ginger and Cinnamon help stimulate and plump lips.
  • Peppermint provides lips with a cooling and stimulating sensation.
  • Lips become flushed and plump instantly for a sexy, pouty look that lasts.
  • Guaranteed Visible Results.
  • Dermatologist Tested.
Special Ingredients: Ginger and Cinnamon stimulate lips. Peppermint provides a cooling sensation.

TO USE: Apply a generous amount over the entire lip area. You may experience a slight tingle. Can be worn alone or over your favorite lip product. Apply as needed.

RETAIL PRICE: Around Php 400-500.

WEIGHT : 5.6 grams

SHADES : Available in 4 shades.
> # 15 Clear
> # 16 Sheer blush
> # 17 Sheer pink
> # 18 Sheer mocha

WHAT I LIKE:
* has a spicy, tingling sensation that lasts for 20-30 minutes. Don't be afraid - its really tolerable! hehe
* inexpensive - costs half the price of Duwop's Lip venom.
* love brush type applicator (compared to foam types) - reminds me of MAC's Lustreglass
* minty scent - i usually choose mint flavored lipbalms, then the strawberry flavored ones =)
* i have fine lines on my lips, after 5 minutes of using this I noticed my lips looked a bit plump and the fine lines are not so noticeable anymore (see pic below).
* not sticky

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
* my lips felt plump, but there's no visible results.
* packaging not hygenic

TIPS:
Use a lipbrush (instead of the applicator) when you use this on top of lipstick - so that the lipstick color will not mix into the clear gloss..

ADDICTION FACTOR:
I love spicy glosses and lipbalms!

RATING :
3 out of 5.

With flash

See the fine lines aren't that visible anymore, and it has a slight plumping effect!
I'll definitely buy this instead of Duwop's Lip venom since its much cheaper, and it works the same for me. It contains a lot of product too! =)

Review : MAC Mineralized Skinfinish (MSF) in Gold Spill

Click to enlarge

PRODUCT INFO from MAC:
A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks and brows, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face.

RETAIL PRICE: Around Php 1,500 (about $32) <- correct me if I'm wrong.
Bought this from Babyjap for a much cheaper price.

WEIGHT : 10 grams / 0.35 US oz.

SHADES : Available in several LE (limited edition) shades. Currently, MAC has 5:
> Sunny by nature - rich bronze w/ pink pearl
> Cheeky bronze - soft golden coral w/ bronze pearl
> Comfort - golden bronze
> Gold deposit - soft reflective golden-bronze
> Soft and Gentle - gilded peach bronze
> Gold Spill - Pink peach w/ warm brown and cream pearl (LE shade)

WHAT I LIKE:
* its multi-purpose! can be used as blush, bronzer and eyeshadow
* made of minerals
* love the dome shape (since this is baked)
* nice color pay-off; pigmented
* not too shimmery when applied
* MSF's are very lightweight on the face
* no allergies

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
* MSF's are fragile! Do NOT drop this.
* messy - when I use a kabuki brush, the powder tends to scatter all over the compact.

TIPS:
Can be used alone or layered over blush (as contour powder). I always use this with NARS Orgasm blush. Thanks Babyjap for the tip! I prefer to use my Ecotools blush brush or angled blush brush to apply this.

ADDICTION FACTOR:
Yes, if the price is cheap.

RATING :
5 out of 5.
