Review: Philips Satinelle Epilator HP600

I've been shaving my legs for as long as I remember. I want to try waxing, but I'm too lazy to go to the salon. I'm also scared to try Do-it-yourself (DIY) waxing 'coz what if I'll burn myself?! So, I asked myself, "why not try an epilator?" The effect is just like waxing but in the convenience of my own home. I got this epilator a few months ago and I think this deserves a review.

Product Info from Philips:
Enjoy long lasting smooth legs with this Philips Epilator.
Removes hair from the root, for hair free legs up to four weeks.

FEATURES:
* Ergonomic grip - for comfortable handling.
* Fast and efficient epilation system - pulls out the hairs by the root.
* 2 speed settings - extra speed setting for thin hairs and difficult to reach areas.
* Washable epilation head - for extra hygiene and easy cleaning.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 2,299 at Watsons

PROS:
* easy to use and clean
* hair-free legs up to 2-3 weeks
* can be used on the arms, legs and underarm (but I only use this on the lower leg area and underarms)
* the epilation head is made of stainless steel, therefore its durable.
* no more itching when the hair starts to grow, unlike using a shaver.

CONS:
* no travel case
* I admit, it's super painful at first but take note I'm not used to waxing my legs. After using it several times I got used to it and its not that painful anymore.

TIPS:
* It is best to use the epilator after showering so that the pores are still open (make sure to wipe the area with a towel first)
* Do not apply anything (lotion, oil) before and after epilating.
* Do not wet the area within 12 hours after epilating, it is best to do it before you go to bed.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Those who are looking for an alternative to waxing and shaving.

OVERALL:
I'm glad I tried this!  Now, I don't have to bring a shaver with me everytime I travel coz like I said, I used to shave everyday, but  ever since I started epilating, my legs stay hair-free up to 3 weeks. This product is LOVE =D

Miners The Matte Factor Lip Paint Review and Swatches

Hello everyone! Finally, as promised here are the swatches of The Miners Lip Paints. Nikki of Xin & Company gifted me with these. To those of you who are not familiar, MINERS Cosmetics is a brand from UK.

Info from Miners Cosmetics:
This new and innovative product is a completely matte lip paint that will leave your lips looking vibrant with full bodied colour. The Matte Factor is a 'liquid lipstick' that is completely unique, painting your lips with a completely matte-nificent colour leaving a gorgeous matte, velveteen finish.

I have the following shades:

Miners Lip Paint in Light Pink
At first I thought this color looks "too light" when applied, but boy I was wrong! It looks lovely right?! For fair skintones, it looks good when paired with  silver smokey eyes. The shade kinda reminds me of MAC Viva Glam Gaga.
Miners Lip Paint in Cappuccino
This is a nice MLBB shade! I think it will suit all skintones. The shade reminds me of MAC Hug Me Lipstick.
Miners Lip Paint in Peach
The name says it all! Like Cappuccino, this will suit ladies with fair or morena skintones.
The shade is almost similar to my OCC Lip Tar in Memento except that this is slightly warmer.
Miners Lip Paint in Hot Pink
I love PINK lippies! Hot Pink is almost similar to NYX Lip Cream in Addis Abba, except the latter is slightly brighter. (see swatches below)
Miners Lip Paint in Warm Red
This is a red with warm undertones. Love love!
Miners Lip Paint in Deep Red
Deep red is a cooler version of Warm Red. It has bluish undertones to make your teeth look whiter. The shade reminds me of a lighter version of MAC Russian Red.

Overall, these lippies are LOVE! It doesn't dry out my lips after application, but I highly recommend applying lipbalm prior to applying any lip product. Staying power is good too, lasts for 4-5 hours on my lips as long as you do not eat anything oily. These babies are priced at Php 330 each.

Spend vs. Save : MAC 187 Duo Fibre / Stippling brush

As I've mentioned on my previous post, a must have tool for makeup application would be a stippling brush. You can use if for almost everything, except eyeshadow of course =D

MAC brushes are quite expensive, but it is worth every penny. For those looking for an inexpensive alternative to a MAC 187 stippling brush, I'm glad to let you know I have found just the thing! The best part is it's only 1/4 of the price compared to MAC. This is quite the deal!

Spend: MAC 187 Duo Fibre brush - Php 2,950
Save:
Charm Pro Stippling brush - Php 700

The white hair of the Charm brush is slightly longer compared to MAC.

MAC 187 vs Charm Duo Fibre

Overall, I love this brush! It's soft and doesn't have a weird scent. I tried using this on BB creams, liquid foundation, blush creams and I didn't have a hard time blending the products.

MAC 187 vs 188 Stippling / Duo Fibre brush

First I want to apologize for being MIA for a long time. I worked for MAC Cosmetics Cebu as makeup artist for more than a year; I wanted to avoid any conflict of interest, hence the lack of posts. Now I am back to freelancing and I'm excited to be beauty blogging again. I have a lot of new products to share with you guys.

If you are a makeup artist or just someone who loves makeup, I think one of the must-have brushes is the Stippling brush or also known as a Duo Fiber brush. Why is it called Duo Fiber? Because the brushes are composed of 2 kinds of hair. The white bristle is synthetic; while the black one is made of high quality goat hair thus, you can use it with powder, cream or liquid makeups. Quite a multitasker right?!

Here's a quick comparison and I will let the pictures do the talking =)

 MAC 187 | MAC 188

MAC 187 Duo Fiber brush (description from MAC Cosmetics)
A large full circular brush used for lightweight application and blending of face powder or pigments. Use to create soft layers or add textures. Made from a soft blend of goat and synthetic fibres. Size is 18 cm.

- This brush retails for Php 2,950. You can use this brush for almost everything. Liquid foundation, powder foundation, primer, pressed powder, bb creams etc.

MAC 188 Small Duo Fiber brush (description from MAC Cosmetics)
A flat-topped, full circular brush used for lightweight application and blending of any formula colour – fluid, cream, powder or pigment. Ideal for creating soft layers or adding textures. Made from a soft blend of goat and synthetic fibres. Size is 17 cm.

- This brush retails for Php 2,100. You can use this for cream or powder blushes, foundation, moisturiser, highlighter etc.

The 188 brush is almost half the size of the 187 brush.

I know MAC brushes are expensive or an investment I must say,  but in the long run you'll be amazed that these brushes will last you a lifetime (with good care of course)! The brushes are hand-sculpted and made with quality materials.

For those of you who didn't know here's the coding for MAC brushes:
100's - Face brushes
200's - Eye brushes
300's - Lip brushes

What's your favorite MAC brush?
Do you have a cheaper alternative for these brushes?
