Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Contour Kit Light to Medium review and swatches

Hello Shopcoholics!
One of my long time wish list is to buy a contour and highlight palette. This famous kit from Anatasia Beverly Hills is one of the must-haves for makeup artists. The Kat Von D Shade and Light palette is also popular, but it is more expensive than ABH. It retails for $49.50 (20.25 grams) while ABH retails for $43 (18 grams). I’m glad though that I don’t have to spend a lot of money for this because I’ve found a seller on Instagram that sells this for a cheaper price.

PACKAGING:

Here’s what the palette looks like when you take out the individual pans.

The palette is magnetic, which makes it easy to remove the powders. When you ran out of a certain shade, you can buy a refill. How great is that?!

I am really impressed with the packaging, the cardboard material isn’t flimsy, and the pans are labeled individually with their shade names.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS CONTOUR KIT SHADE NAMES

INGREDIENTS LIST:

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS CONTOUR POWDER SWATCHES
Indoor light

Swatches from left to right (NC20 skin tone)
Vanilla | Banana | Sand | Java | Fawn | Havana

Natural light

TEXTURE & PIGMENTATION:
All the powders are smooth and pigmented, you only need to tap your brush and apply with a light hand.

STAYING POWER:
Staying power is impressive! After swatching the shades on my wrist, I tried to rub it 10x with my fingers but the color only faded a little, and to think I didn’t even use a makeup primer.

TIPS:
I prefer to mix Vanilla + Banana to brighten my under eye area, while I use Sand to highlight the bridge of my nose, top of the cheekbones, tear ducts, brow bone and Cupid’s bow. You can also use all 3 highlighter shades as eyeshadow base.

For the contouring powders, my fave is Fawn + Java to contour the sides of my cheeks, and Fawn only on the sides of my nose. All contour shades can also be used as an eyeshadow transition color.

My favorite tool to apply the contouring shades is my MAC 168 Large Angled brush (Php 2,750), while for the highlighting powders is my trusted MAC 227 Large Fluff brush (Php 2,100).

 OVERALL:
I love all the shades in this palette, and it suits light to medium skin tones. If you are looking for  natural looking shades for highlight and contour, this is it girls!
The highlight shades are a perfect match for my NC20 skin tone, and the contour shades don't look muddy at all.
For reference, I’ve tried Benefit Hoola and The Balm’s Bahama Bronzer, but they look dark and unnatural on my skin tone.

What is your favorite contour powder?

Till next time,
