Quick review : Y.O.U. Cloud Touch Correcting Concealer Palette

 Hello Shopcoholics!
Sharing with you my newest discovery.

I love concealers and it is a staple in my makeup kit. I've tried a LOT from MAC, NARS, Bobbi Brown... and inexpensive local ones.

Y.O.U Cloud Touch Correcting Concealer Palette (php 529)

Review: Too Faced Born This Way Multi-use Scuplting Concealer

Hi Shopcoholics!
One of my favorite makeup product is concealer. In fact, I have tried a LOT!
From drugstore to high end ones... from different textures - cream, liquid, sticks!

My HG concealer is still MAC Studio finish, I use it to cover undereye circles and pimple marks.  On some days where I just need something light and with a good coverage, I prefer to use liquid concealers. They say that the best liquid concealer is the Tarte Shape Tape, but i beg to disagree :) You see, I also own Shape tape and I find it too drying even with eye cream underneath. They say that Too Faced Born this way is the hydrating version of Shape Tape. Maybe I’ll do a comparison next time.

Spend vs Save: NARS Radiant Creamy concealer

Hello Shopcoholics!
It’s been a while since I did a Spend vs Save series here in my blog.
I am really excited to show you the comparison between two of the most popular concealers in the high end and drugstore category.
I’ve been using NARS for quite sometime now and it my favorite liquid concealer to date.
After reading good reviews about Maybelline being a dupe of the cult fave NARS Creamy concealer, I’ve decided to give this a try. I bought two shades, 010 Light and 020 Sand.

Spend: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard Php 1,750
Save: Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 20 Sand Php 299

Both concealers are yellow toned and suits light skintones (NC20).

MAC Studio Correct and Conceal Palette in Light swatches

If you have been reading my previous posts, you'll know that my Holy grail concealer is MAC Studio Finish. I use it as undereye concealer and for hiding blemishes.
Imagine my delight when my friend from the US, Dona gifted me this concealer palette.

PRODUCT INFO:
A professional palette of four concealers and two corrector shades in a medium colour wave. Enriched with antioxidants and suited for all skin types, they can be used individually or combined to match any skin tone. Emollient-based formula delivers medium to full buildable coverage in a natural finish. Helps to correct skin tone and conceal dark circles, blemishes, moles, tattoos and birthmarks.

6 g / 0.21 US oz.

This concealer palette retails for $35 at www.maccosmetics.com

Swatches : MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35++

As you all know, MAC Studio Finish is my HG concealer. I use it as an undereye concealer, brow and face highlight, and to cover imperfections and pimple marks.

This is the BEST concealer I have ever tried!
It is full coverage, has SPF 35++, and it's waterproof.
A tiny pot costs Php 1,100 ($22) here in the Philippines, but will last you up to 2 years with everyday use.

I have the following shades:

NC20, NW20, NW25 and NC30.

For reference, my foundation is NC20. I use the NW25 shade first as an undereye corrector  because of its salmon color, and then followed by NW20 to brighten.

For pimple marks and imperfections, I usually mix NC30 and NC20 to get the perfect shade.

For brow and face highlight, I use the NC20 shade.

TIP:
You can mix it with moisturiser for a sheerer coverage.

Swatches: MAC Studio Finish Concealer + concealer tips

Just a quick post of my FAVE concealer ever!
Hands down to this product! It is opaque and lightweight at the same time. The formula is super pigmented that it can cover moles, birthmarks and blemishes. It is also enriched with anti-oxidants Vit. E and A and has SPF 35 for skin protection. It is priced at Php 1,000 each for 7 grams, but trust me this tiny pot will last you a long time.

This product is a must have in my kikay kit. As you can see I own three shades NC20, NC30 and NW25. I'll tell you in a bit on how I use the following shades.

MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 concealer
NC20, NC30, NW25

I use the following brushes to apply concealer:
Ecotools flat synthetic brush from the 5 pc. set to highlight (browbone)
Ecotools Smudge brush from their Eye set (blemishes)
MAC 242 shader brush (undereyes)

NC20 -  I find that this shade is too light for my undereyes, so I use it as highlight instead under the brows.

NC30 - to cover pimples and pimple marks.

NW25 - is perfect as an undereye concealer. The peachy/salmon tone neutralizes and counteracts my purplish dark circles. Doesn't crease and stays put all day when set with my fave Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder.

I found this helpful guide on Instagram on how to conceal dark undereye circles.

You can also use the following brushes to apply concealer.
The fluffy ones for an airbrushed effect, while the flat brush for more coverage.

ELF Eyeshadow Stipple brush (dupe for MAC 282SE) from Stipple Set
ELF Tapered Stipple brush (dupe for MAC 286SE) from Stipple Set
MAC 224 Blending brush (Php 2,000)
MAC 242 Shader brush (Php 1,600)

WEIGHT: 14 grams. Expect 40-150 applications.

SHADES: MY-2, MO-2, CC-3, FS-3

PROS:
* inexpensive
* pigmented, you only need a small amount of product to cover imperfections.
* very creamy texture (love, love!) similar to the Blue Neutralizer.
* easy to work with, I don't have a hard time blending it (no tugging) especially on the undereye area.
* lasts the whole day (when set well with powder)! No retouching needed!
* the 4 shades can be used alone, mixed together or worn under other concealers.

CONS:
* has the tendency to cake if not blended or set properly.

TIPS:
When set with Ben Nye's Banana Visage Poudre or their Neutral set loose powder, this concealer does not budge the whole day.
Note: I have normal skin with slightly oily t-zone.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
The first time I've tried Ben Nye's Blue Neutralizer I was really impressed with the coverage, texture and staying power. The same goes to this Cover All Concealer wheel, I highly recommend this if you're looking for an inexpensive all around corrector/concealer for the face and body.

OVERALL:
A staple in my makeup kit coz I can use it to camouflage everything. What I also love about Ben Nye products is that I'm hiyang with it and it doesn't irritate my face even if I use it everyday.

Mellow Orange (MO): Neutralize blue-green face and body imperfections including veins, tattoos, bruises and deep under-eye discolorations.

Coverette Cover-Up (CC): Often recommended by doctors and "Camouflage artists" to cover scar tissue, birthmarks, vitiligo and post-op skin discoloration. Blends easily to most skin tones.

Five O'Sharp Series (FS): Conceal blue beard shadows with this series of four specialty cover-ups. May be applied beneath or over foundation tone. Very effective in concealing deep discolorations, including black eyes or intense under-eye discoloration.

If my dark circles are really bad (blame it on my sinusitis and lack of zzzz's) I use MO-2 to neutralize the purplish tone of my undereye circles then top it off with liquid concealer. I sometimes use MY-2 on top to of MO-2 to brighten.

I got 2 bottles of the Banana Visage Poudre as back-ups. These are sold for Php 520.00 (45 grams) each.

Review: Revlon Photoready Concealer

Product Info from Revlon:
All over face concealer helps erase imperfections and camouflage dark undereye circles
Full yet undetectable coverage
Photochromatic pigments bend, reflect and diffuse light
SPF 20

TIPS from Revlon:
Apply under eyes and over any imperfections or dark spots, blend using fingertips in gently patting motion. Always try to select a concealer shade slightly lighter than skin tone particularly for the under eye area.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 725.00

NET WEIGHT: 0.11 oz / 3.2 grams

SHADES:
Available in 6 shades.
Fair, Light Pale, Light Medium, Medium, Medium Deep, Deep

PROS:
* with SPF 20
Link* inexpensive
* offers medium to full coverage for dark undereye circles, redness and blemishes.
* i only need 2 layers to cover up my dark circles.
* formula is creamy and it doesn't tug my undereyes. It is super easy to blend and looks really natural!
* does not settle into my fine lines (undereyes).
* the lipstick shape makes it easy to apply.
* good staying power. I've used the Light Medium shade on my undereye circles and when I went outdoors and started sweating, I was wonderfully surprised that the concealer didn't fade and cake at all (when set with loose powder).

CONS:
* Similar to other products of the Photoready line this has micro shimmers which may be a CON for some but it does not bother me.

TIPS:
* after applying your facial moisturiser, apply eye cream to hydrate the undereye area.
* After foundation/BB cream application, swipe the concealer starting from the inner corners of your undereyes going outwards. You can also use a concealer brush for hygenic purposes.
* PAT the concealer (using your pinkie finger) until the product blends with your skintone. Using a powder puff with a bit of loose powder, use a "PRESS and ROLL" motion to set concealer. Setting the concealer is a very important step, this prevents the concealer from caking and fading throughout the day.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Anyone who's looking for an easy-to-use concealer that offers good coverage.

OVERALL:
I've had a bad experience with Stick concealers in the past as you can see in my Concealer collection post I currently don't own one. I've tried stick concealers from Palladio and NYC but their dry texture makes it difficult to blend plus it creases during the day and has the tendency to settle into fine lines. But with this concealer, the texture is not that drying, non-cakey and is easy to blend. This is the BEST stick concealer I've tried so far!

Review: Missha The Style Undereye Brightener

Missha The Style Undereye Brightener #2
Product Info from Missha:
A tip type concealer that contains brightening properties which will cover dark circles and imperfections.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 199.00 on Ebay.
WEIGHT: 6 grams
SHADES : Available in only 2 shades.
> #1 Light Beige
> #2 Natural Beige

PROS:
* creamy consistency & dries easily
* easy to blend
* inexpensive
* has tiny pearls to brighten the undereye area
* not as drying compared to Skinfood Rice Concealer tip
* does not settle into fine lines
* can be layered with a cream concealer

CONS:
* Light to medium coverage (see explanation below why its a CON)
* You cannot test the shades if you buy it online.
For Manila residents, they have a branch at SM North Annex. Thanks Justine for letting me know. =)
*
Limited shades available. The darkest shade is too light for medium skintones IMO

ADDICTION FACTOR:
I'm not pleased with this concealer... coverage is too light (for me) and it did nothing to camouflage my dark circles. I don't want this product to go to waste, so I sometimes use this on the sides of my nose and browbone to brighten.
If you're looking for a light coverage concealer just to brighten your undereye area maybe this product might work for you.

EDIT 1/28: Used it again on my undereyes this morning. I applied a thin layer first before applying my Time Balm concealer... the effect is okay, so far my concealer didn't cake but I still prefer using my Ben Nye corrector before using any concealer. =)

RATING : 2.5/5

* did not fade and cake when set/blended properly
