Review: Ben Nye Cover All Concealer Wheel

Ben Nye Cover All Concealer wheel in SK-1

Product Info from Ben Nye:
Four classic neutralizing shades are included in this best-selling Wheel.
Mutes redness, veins, tattoos, beard shadows and skin discolorations.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 690.00 at www.thestylequarter.multiply.com

WEIGHT: 14 grams. Expect 40-150 applications.

SHADES: MY-2, MO-2, CC-3, FS-3

PROS:
* inexpensive
* pigmented, you only need a small amount of product to cover imperfections.
* very creamy texture (love, love!) similar to the Blue Neutralizer.
* easy to work with, I don't have a hard time blending it (no tugging) especially on the undereye area.
* lasts the whole day (when set well with powder)! No retouching needed!
* the 4 shades can be used alone, mixed together or worn under other concealers.

CONS:
* has the tendency to cake if not blended or set properly.

TIPS:
When set with Ben Nye's Banana Visage Poudre or their Neutral set loose powder, this concealer does not budge the whole day.
Note: I have normal skin with slightly oily t-zone.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
The first time I've tried Ben Nye's Blue Neutralizer I was really impressed with the coverage, texture and staying power. The same goes to this Cover All Concealer wheel, I highly recommend this if you're looking for an inexpensive all around corrector/concealer for the face and body.

OVERALL:
A staple in my makeup kit coz I can use it to camouflage everything. What I also love about Ben Nye products is that I'm hiyang with it and it doesn't irritate my face even if I use it everyday.

Ingredients list

Description from Ben Nye site:
Mellow Yellow (MY): Cover redness, three intensely pigmented shades are in this group, has a smooth consistency to neutralize and cover redness, blemishes, scars and capillaries.

Mellow Orange (MO): Neutralize blue-green face and body imperfections including veins, tattoos, bruises and deep under-eye discolorations.

Coverette Cover-Up (CC): Often recommended by doctors and "Camouflage artists" to cover scar tissue, birthmarks, vitiligo and post-op skin discoloration. Blends easily to most skin tones.

Five O'Sharp Series (FS): Conceal blue beard shadows with this series of four specialty cover-ups. May be applied beneath or over foundation tone. Very effective in concealing deep discolorations, including black eyes or intense under-eye discoloration.

Swatches

If my dark circles are really bad (blame it on my sinusitis and lack of zzzz's) I use MO-2 to neutralize the purplish tone of my undereye circles then top it off with liquid concealer. I sometimes use MY-2 on top to of MO-2 to brighten.

LinkMy Ben Nye Haul from The Style Quarter.
I got 2 bottles of the Banana Visage Poudre as back-ups. These are sold for Php 520.00 (45 grams) each.

Review: Sleek Makeup Molten Metal Metallic Eyeshadow Duo

Product Info from SLEEK MAKEUP:
lluminate your eyes with Molten Metal’s newest shades in Steel and Ash, a cool duo of graphite and silver. The intensely pigmented formula applies like a dream, whilst the vivid colour stays strong and crease free. The creamy texture allows for easy application, making dramatic eyes quick and easy to apply.

TIPS: For starry, smouldering eyes highlight the inner corner of the eye and brow bone using Steel, with Ash to contour and line the eyes.

RETAIL PRICE: $10.50 on www.sleekmakeup.com

WEIGHT: 5.4 gramsLink
SHADES : Available in 2 shades.
> Gold & Pewter
> Steel & Ash

PROS:
* texture is smooth and creamy
* glides like a dream
* really pigmented! shows up easily even without an eye primer

* cute compact with mirror

CONS:
* takes time to dry
* it creases when used alone (no base or primer underneath)

* like most cream eyeshadows you need to "set" this with powder eyeshadow to prevent creasing.

TIPS:
* Prime your lids first with Urban Decay primer potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I've heard a cheaper alternative of the two is Etude House H2O proof eye primer. My friend Raine loves it!
* Apply a thin layer of Sleek cream eyeshadow using your fingertips or a firm synthetic flat brush. You can either apply the darker shade (Steel) near the lashine then apply the lighter shade (Ash) on the crease for a smokey effect OR apply Ash on the entire lid then use Steel to contour the outer-v. For me using the 1st technique is easier since blending a cream shadow on the outer-v is quite tricky especially for newbies.
* Set with a thin layer of translucent powder like Ben Nye Neutral Set using a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I like this powder since it doesn't alter the shade of any makeup. For Philippine residents you can purchase one HERE. If you don't own one, you can also "set" the cream shadow with a powder eyeshadow in the same shade.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
People with not so oily lids like mine.

OVERALL:
I rarely use cream eyeshadows on daily basis since I'm always in a hurry when I do my eye makeup in the morning for work... but If I have a LOT of time to spare, using a cream eyeshadow is a great way to intensify my eyeshadow color and THIS shade is very pretty especially for night outs.

* no weird smell
* powder is non-chalky; color is sheer but buildable
* the shade Light Bronzer looks super natural on my NC20-25 skintone
* its mineral makeup and has anti-oxidants Vitamins A & E that helps protect the skin

* good for sensitive and acne-prone skin because of the minimalist formula

* it has a built in brush so you don't have to worry of bringing a separate brush for touch-ups.

CONS:
* brush is scratchy
* mirror is too small

TIPS:
Swipe the brush starting from your temples going downwards to the cheek area and blend with a separate brush for a natural looking effect. Also use on the T-zone for a sunkissed effect.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Those who are too lazy to bring separate bronzer and a brush.

OVERALL:
The shade is really nice and contours my face without looking muddy, but like what I've said I find the brush too scratchy, but I can always use a separate brush to blend this =)
