Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

It's not lipstick, nor it is a gloss. It's like nothing you've experienced before. It's a lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte.

NET WEIGHT: 6.5 grams / 0.23 oz.

SHADES: Available in 11 shades.


PROS:
* nice color pay-off! This is very pigmented you only need a little amount.
* satin-y texture that dries to a matte finish.
* non-drying and does not settle into fine lip lines.
* feels comfortable and lightweight as if I'm not wearing a matte lipcolor.
* amazing staying power! Leaves a bit of a stain even after eating and drinking.

CONS:
* some may find the texture drying if you're not used to matte lipsticks. (see tip below)


TIPS:
* Exfoliate your lips using a soft toothbrush or you can also use Extra Virgin Olive oil (EVOO) with a bit of sugar and gently rub on your lips. Wipe with a soft cloth.
* Apply lipbalm and let it absorb for a few minutes.
* Apply NYX's lipcream starting at the center of your lips going outwards.
* Let it dry for a few minutes. Apply clear gloss to prevent your lips from drying... My favorite is MAC Clear lipglass.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:

Anyone who wants to try a long wearing lipcolor that feels comfortable on the lips.


OVERALL:
I love it! The texture is indeed unique plus the hot pink shade flatters my NC20 skintone.

Review: Nyx Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit

PALETTE SIZE: 2.31" width x 2.31" height x 0.81" diameter

PROS:
* compact and lightweight

* almost all eyeshadow shades are pigmented and non-chalky
* the palette contains both matte and shimmery eyeshadows
* gorgeous lipcolor shades that looks flattering on my NC20 skintone
* lipcolor is non-sticky plus it doesn't have a weird smell
* decent staying power (eyeshadow and lipcolor)

CONS:

* the plastic looks cheap and flimsy
* the lipcolors are kinda drying so don't forget to apply lipbalm prior to application
* I find the matte eyeshadow shades kinda chalky

OVERALL:
This is one of my favorites coz you can create multiple day to night looks with this palette! I'm even bringing this to my Hongkong trip next week.

The Jessie Glova 15 pc Concealer palette with the NYX Concealer in a jar.

The NYX Colors are really dupeable.. See?!

In terms of coverage, the 15 concealer palette reminds me of the MAC Studio Finish concealer, that has a "kinda" dry coverage compared to NYX.

Spend vs. Save : MAC Red Lipstick

MAC lipstick in MAC Red is described as a "Vivid bright bluish-red" on MAC's website.

MAC Lipstick in Mac Red (Satin finish) - Php 900

I really love NYX's Round lipsticks! They are really pigmented and creamy!
Nice colors too!

TIP:
Make sure to apply lipbalm before applying ANY lip product.

Spend Vs. Save : Bright Pink Blush

MAC Blush in Dollymix (sheertone shimmer) - Php 1,200
NYX Blush in Pinky - Php 350

I really love NYX's blushes! (and their other products too!)
Staying power is good (about 4 hours) and its not that chalky..
I have 2 NYX's blushes, the other one is Desert Rose.
Both are really pigmented, I only need to tap my kabuki brush once or twice.


Other Inexpensive (but Good) Brands to Try:

Ever Bilena Blush in Shy - Php 100+
Ever Bilena Blush in Baby Pink - Php 100+
Fanny Serrano Blush in Angel Pink- Php 200+

I used Shy and Baby Pink, the former really looks like Dollymix so I gave it to my sister in law. Baby pink is a nice shimmery pink blush that instantly brightens my face.

Review : Revlon New Complexion Concealer

WHAT I LIKE:
* it has spf 15
* unscented
* 2 shades can be blended for a perfect match
* easy to blend ; buildable coverage
* non-sticky
* small compact
* similar consistency to NYX's Concealer in a Jar
* medium shade matches my skintone

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:

* compact contains a small amount of concealer
* turns ashy after 6 hours (note: I didn't use primer)

RATING:

* 4 out of 5

I really love NYX products! The Blush is super pigmented, I only need to tap my kabuki brush. Their Megashine gloss is non-sticky, pigmented and lasts for 4 hours while their lipstick is comparable to the high end ones.
So glad I bought these products for less than 200 bucks each!

Mini Haul

At last, got my 3rd package from MakeupMasala! Was afraid it got lost.. Bought some random stuff too at White Gold store here in Cebu.

Will post reviews soon on the Ecotools brush since I haven't washed and used it yet. On the other hand, I got the Life and Companion brushes for less than php 80 each. I read so many good reviews about this brand from Girltalk.

Life and Companion Angled Eyeliner Brush

I like this compared to my Fanny Serrano angled liner brush (php 150) and Elianto rounded liner brush (php 180). The bristles are perfect! Not too stiff, not so soft! Delivers a thin line and very easy to use since the head is wide..

Life and Companion Crease Brush
Doesn't shed.. Soft for a cheap brush.. Use it for dark colors since it hardly picks up eyeshadow pigments.

Unbranded Fan Brush from China
Love it! Its soft and shed's only a single hair upon washing.

Review : NYX Concealer in a Jar in Light, Beige and Medium

I love NYX especially their Concealer! I read online its a great dupe for the MAC Studiofinish concealer for a fraction of the price.. I've heard so many good things about this tiny jar and after reading Nikki of Askmewhats' Product Review, I decided to give this little guy a shot!


According to N.Y.X. :
"Provides natural & lasting coverage of discolorations & imperfections without looking caked-on or clumpy. Super concentrated so just a little will do the job."

WHAT I LIKE:

* its affordable! Got the Beige & Medium shade from MakeupMasala for $3.50 each, while the Light shade from a swap.

* very creamy, a little goes a long way

* lightweight feeling when applied all over my eyes

* doesn't crease & longlasting (make sure to set with loose powder). I'm using Skinfood's Buckwheat loose powder in #21

* very handy coz of its size.


WHAT I DON'T LIKE:

* not available here in the Philippines
* difficult to choose colors online; that's why I bought 3 shades!
* coverage is sheer, did not totally cover my dark undereye circles.

NYX Concealer in a Jar in Light, Beige, Medium

Light - has a slight pink undertone. A bit light on my skintone but I use this on my undereye circles to lighten them. I think it will match NC15-20 skintones with pink undertones.

Beige - Perfect match! Perfect for NC20-25, with yellow undertones.

Medium - slightly dark on me. I think this shade will suit typical Pinay's with NC30-35 skintones.

Note: Light shade matches my inner arm (i have slightly pink undertones here) while the Beige shade matches my face (with slightly yellow undertones).
Weird huh?! Maybe I have Neutral undertones? Enlighten me ladies! hehe

My favorite among the bunch is the Lancome JT! It applies sheer at first then darkens a bit after awhile. Very glossy and a natural red on me! Just like bitten lips..

I'm a bit disappointed with MAC Venetian, it quickly fades and you're left with glossy lips with no color! Its so weird coz its quite pigmented in the tube and on MAC website.

I noticed that MAC Lustreglasses are very sheer when applied, get the Tinted Lipglass if you want pigmented glosses!

Smudge Free lipstick: ( I read this tip in Marie Clare Mag )

This is really important to keep lipstick last longer and prevents it from bleeding.
RED lipstick on your teeth?! NOT COOL!

1. Make sure your lips is dry (no lipbalm coz this will just make your lipstick slide off).

2. Fill in your lips with a natural colored lipliner that's closest to your lipcolor.

3. Apply your lipstick using a lipbrush for more precision.

4. Blot lips unto tissue.

5. Apply a thin layer of translucent powder over your lips to "set" the lipstick, then apply color again and gently blot with tissue..
