Latest Haul..

Before anything else, I'd like to greet you all.. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Ho, ho, ho!

My Latest Haul:

Coastal Scents 28 pc. Neutral Palette

Bought this from a local seller, before I saw this I was having second thoughts to buy this one coz I thought maybe the colors will be boring. I was planning to get the 88 pc. Ultra shimmer palette but I find it too colorful for my taste. I'm scared of bright colors!! But the moment I saw this palette i instantly fell in love and I couldn't wait to play with the beautiful colors..

Cheapie Cream Eyeshadow Palette from Miss Beauty & Baxi

Bought them for less than a 100 bucks each. I love them! Very long lasting & buildable. They don't have that funky smell like some cheap eyeshadows do..

Thanks sis Aika! Read it from her GT post kasi. =)

Aren't they lovely?!

Here's some proof.. Swatched on NC25 skin

Miss Beauty Eyeshadow (left palette)

I just love how shimmery they are!!! =)

I heart Makeup..

Hey there ladies! Just want to share my favorite makeup as of the moment.. =)

* LANCOME Palette - i love the colors! it has 4 long lasting eyeshadow colors that I can use throughout the year (from summer to fall) and a classic matte red lipcolor!

* MAYBELLINE Powder Foundation in N11 - i use this dry when I'm in a hurry to put on liquid foundation. It evens out my skintone & is very good in controlling oil.

* MAC lustre lipstick in Lightly Ripe - from the Cult of Cherry Collection. My friend Dona gave this during my birthday. The shade is medium pink, and is perfect during daytime especially when layered with MAC lustreglass in Pinkarat.

* MAC lipglass in Pink Lemonade - a light peachy pink gloss that makes my lips look plump!

* MAC lustreglass in Venetian - a sheer cherry red color with shimmers. Perfect for nighttime parties!

* MAJORLICA MAJORCA mascara by Shiseido - my lashes look like falsies when I use this. It has a unique comb- like wand that separates lashes while making it look full & long..

* MAYBELLINE aqua gel foundation in Natural - a sheer foundie that evens out my skintone & covers slight imperfections without the mask like effect. I prefer to use this with a damp makeup sponge so that it really blends well coz this tend to dry quickly.

* SKINFOOD Mushroom Multi-care BB Cream SPF 20 - i use this most of the time alternating it with my Gingko BB Cream. This serves as my makeup base, foundation & sunblock! Really cuts my makeup application in half. Definitely a keeper! Click here to read my review.

* SMITH'S Rosebud salve - instantly relieves chapped lips!
According to Sephora's website : " This cult-favorite, multi-purpose lip balm soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, and soothes the sting of minor burns. Try dabbing on dry elbows or knees to condition, and relieve dryness. Also an excellent remedt for the treatment of diaper rash."

* MAC sheertone blush in Springsheen - a light peach shade with golden shimmers! Really warms up my skintone. I like pairing this with my MAC lipglass in Sexy sweet (Belle Azure Collection), a shimmery peachy bronze shade.

* LANCOME eyeshadow brush - made of soft hair that makes blending eyeshadow a breeze! This brush is part of their Makeup Set.

* SHU UEMURA Eyelash Curler - another cult fave. Curls my lashes without pinching my eyes like most curlers do.

* MAC select cover up in NC20 - double purpose! a concealer & an eye primer. I just set this with loose powder. Prevents my eyeshadow from creasing.

* VOV cover foundation in natural beige #2 - i use this as a concealer for my under eye circles & pimple marks. Click here to read my review.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine- Free Face Powder

Super Lightweight.
Lastingly Matte.
No shine, no stress
from AM to PM.

Its the serious shine control face powder with a super light smooth touch.

No caking, no heavy build-up.
The secret?
Micro-fine powder for extra oil absorbency.
Resists sweat & humidity. Long wearing, shine-free finish.

Product Info :
"Shine free finish - combined oil absorbing ingredients remove shine for a clean shine free finish."

"Silky Smooth texture - the extreme fine powder glides like silk and melts smoothly on skin. It covers flawlessly but looks perfectly natural."

Its Fragrance-free, Oil free, Non-comedogenic and it won't clog pores. With SPF 18."

When it first came out this year, I bought the LIGHT shade. To my disappointment, its not my shade. The color is pinkish and my face looked weird. And also, for a fragrance-free powder I find the scent a bit strong compared to their Clear Smooth 2-way powder foundation (I'll do a product review soon..)

Recently they added SPF 18 to the powder! Great! I decided to give it another shot coz I really like the coverage it gives. It evened out my skintone & covered tiny pimple marks without the heavy feel.

I bought the NATURAL shade. In the compact it looked kinda dark for my skintone or maybe its the lighting on the department store?! hehe =) But when applied it matches perfectly with my skintone.. At last! hehe . I wasn't bothered by the scent coz it disappears a few minutes after application.

Product Weight :
10 grams

Price :
199 pesos or $4

Shades:
White, Light, Natural and Honey
Especially developed for Asian Skintones.

Addiction Factor :
Will definitely buy again.

Rating :
3 out 5.
I don't like the puff that comes with it, its not soft and it scratches my face. Make sure to replace it.

VOV Cover Foundation Review

VOV - Makeup of the Stars

**Click to enlarge** taken from VOV site

Company Info :

Vision of Vision or VOV in short, is a high end cosmetic & skincare brand from Korea.

Their products include lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, BB creams, concealers etc..

For more info, check out their website.

Also, check out this post from Manila Standard Today.

My sister introduced this product to me 2 years ago coz im looking for a good & inexpensive concealer to hide my dark undereye circles & slight pimple marks.

She's an actress in ABS-CBN, and her makeup artist (MUA) uses this on her and other actors & actresses as well. She loved the product so much that she asked her MUA to buy one for her. It even took her MUA over a month to buy this product coz its always out of stock!

I told my sister to buy one for me (coz its not available here in Cebu). I even lost hope because its been over a month, my sister still said its always out of stock! Hmpf..

When I went to Manila during the holidays, I passed by the Cosmetics Floor in SM Megamall. There I saw VOV! My heart jumped coz I totally forgot about their Foundation!! I immediately rushed to their counter and asked the Sales girl if they have the Cover Foundation. Luckily they still have stocks! Yey! At last after months of waiting.. =)

Product Info :

A cream foundation that offers medium to heavy coverage. The longer it stays on your skin the more natural it looks. I use this as an undereye concealer and pimple marks. A little goes a long way, so its very tipid.. Just make sure to set it with loose powder.

Product Size :
22 grams

Price :

Less than 500 pesos

Shades:
Available in 4 shades that can be mixed together to exactly match your skintone.
Luckily I don't have to do that coz I found my match in Shade #2. For your reference I'm NC20-25.

Addiction Factor :
Will definitely buy again as soon as it runs out.

Rating :
4 out 5. I wish the pot has a mirror for easy application.

Note: For review purposes only. I'm not selling this product. =)

My Prize..

From Phyllis of Makeupforlife, this is what she sent me. As you all know, I won her sweepstakes raffle.. =)

Thanks so much!!!

Guess what's this? They look like mini cakes =) yummy!!

Coverage :

In terms of coverage, IMO, they're pretty much the same with the Gingko variant except that the Mushroom absorbs easily and its lighter in texture, and its not as oily as the Gingko. For the scent, I love the mushroom variant, its smells more "green" compared to the latter.

I apply my Nivea moisturising fluid SPF 15 in the A.M. , let it absorb for 5-10 minutes, then apply my BB Cream ( depends on my mood either the Gingko or Mushroom variant) .
After letting the cream absorb, I apply concealer on the undereye circles. Dust the whole face with loose powder to set BB Cream & Concealer. I blot my face with Blotting sheets every 4 hours, and sometimes retouch with powder. My skin is not that oily. Only in the T-zone area.

Sunscreen / Sunblock Guidelines..

Yuri Ebihara for Shiseido Anessa

Got this from maplecrest of GirlTalk. Thanks sis!

"This is a nice guideline I found on the net regarding the use of sunblock. Hope this helps:"

Sunblock on? Check.

UVA/UVB protection? Check.

SPF 45? Check.

Ready to hit the beach!

Err, not quite. Wearing sunblock (also called sunscreen) is like taking a multivitamin: people use it, think they're safe, and don't realize that it's possibly doing them no good whatsoever.

A bottle of sunblock is your greatest weapon against wrinkles... IF you use it correctly. Let's give a primer on sunblock how to apply sunblock, shall we.

1. Wash your face. Thoroughly. Excessive face-washing is counter-productive, so don't overdo it. Simply run some warm (not hot) water, lather up some moisturizing facial cleanser (not soap) with your two middle fingers, and rinse. Pat yourself dry, but not too dry. Warm, moist skin absorbs best.

2. Do nothing. Let us make this very clear. For your sunblock to work, it has to be the FIRST thing you apply. If there is a layer of anything (makeup, moisturizer, toner, etc) between your skin and the sunblock, it won't work.

3. Apply sunblock liberally. You've heard before that using too much of something it a bad thing, but this isn't one of those times. Don't skimp on sunblock. It's amazing to me how people will try to save money by using less sunblock, and then spend $100 on an anti-wrinkle cream that does nothing for them. It's the SUNBLOCK where you should spend most of your money, since that is the best way to prevent wrinkles.

4. Do nothing (again). Your sunblock requires at least 10 minutes to absorb into your skin and dry up. It also takes about that long (maybe longer) to work, so don't go in the sun right away. Don't add anything to your face, whether it's water, moisturizer, or makeup, for 10 to 15 minutes. If you do, the sunblock won't work. Use this time to do something else, like your hair, or get dressed.

5. Repeat. If you're going to spend time in the sun, repeat this process every two hours. If it's just a day at the office, once will do, unless you plan on eating lunch outside.

6. Weather doesn't count. You need to wear sunblock every single day, no matter what the weather is like. UV rays shine right through the clouds, and you can still get sunburn in the rain or snow. Make it a morning ritual to apply sunblock first thing out of the shower.

7. Don't neglect your body parts. It would look strange if you were 80 and had very few wrinkles... except on your ears. When applying sunblock, don't forget your ears, hands, backs of your hands, other exposed body parts, and your lips. Of course, for your lips, don't use sunblock. Instead, use a lip balm with SPF 15. And let it sink in before applying that lipstick.

All these steps can be a pain in the rear, but your skin will thank you and reward you with fewer wrinkles. Make it part of your routine to do this, get creative, and you'll get used to it. The alternative (facelifts at 35) is far, far more of a pain than this.

Elianto's Gel Eyeliner & Eyeliner brush Review

Description from Elianto's Website:
" Gellified texture for prominent, lasting and smooth finishing, water resistant eyeline. Paint above the eye lid with liner brush and blend evenly."

Comes in 2 colors : Black & Deep Brown.

Bought the BLACK one for quite a steal at Php 299 or about $6-7 dollars. I also bought their Rounded eyeliner brush for Php 179 or $4 dollars. It looks the same as Bobbi Brown's Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush.

I had these items for almost a year and its so amazing that the Eyeliner brush, with daily use and frequent washing, the hair is still intact and didn't shed that much. It looks pretty much the same since the day I bought it.

The gel eyeliner on the other hand, dried a bit but still easy to apply. Its still a bit creamy and glides like a breeze. It stays the whole day without fading and didn't smudge even if wet, unless you rub it of course! hehe

Rating : I give it 8 out of 10. Will definitely buy again.

Tools :

* Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler - really curls lashes without pinching my eyes. Its shape really suits Asian eyes.

* ELF foundation brush - i use this to apply loose powder after concealer application under my eyes, and also for liquid foundations.

* ELF Blushing, Bronzing & Blending brush - the name says it all. For blush, bronzer & loose powder application..

M A K E U P :

* Lancome juicy tubes - non-sticky gloss that lasts but not as pigmented as the MAC lipglass.

* MAC tinted lipglass - my HG gloss! makes my lips luscious & shiny.. lasts up to 4 hours.

* MAC clear lipglass - i appy this after lipstick and lo! my lips is super shiny!

* Smith's Minted Rose lipbalm - i'm a lipbalm/gloss addict, the best lipbalm for me that really works. It heals my dry lips and makes them uber soft. The best part, it has mint that makes your lips tingle. love it!

* L'oreal Blush Delice - a great alternative to MAC blushes! color pay-off is great and the price too..

* MAC Sheertone Blushes - i prefer this to the Matte Variants coz i like shimmery blushes. They just make my skin glow! I don't like too pigmented ones coz i usually end up looking like a clown.. tehehe..

* The Face Shop Black Label Eyeshadow - i love Korean Makeup! for the quality its really nice and the price is just right. Their eyeshadow is pigmented and lasts the whole day..

What is BB cream?
* this started as a treatment for patients who have undergone laser treatments. This cream helps protect the delicate skin & helps it regenerate faster.

Skinfood Gingko BB Cream Product Info :
"This product is formulated with Gingko & Green tea extracts (anti-oxidant), which is full of beauty enhancing ingredients such as Lecithin & Vitamin B to moisturise and nourish the skin. This is a multi-function skincare product for both skin correction & skin protection. "

Product Size :
50 grams or 1.76 oz.

Price:
Php 1,150 or about $26 dollars

Shades:
#1 for very fair skintones with pink undertones
# 2 for fair-medium skintones with yellow undertones

Coverage :
Light to medium coverage. Depends on how much you apply.

I'm NC20 so I use #1 shade. It evened out my skintone, slightly covered my dark circles and pimple marks. This also gives my face a dewy finish if not used with loose powder. I how my concealer glides easily and makes it easier to blend.

Long-term Benefits of BB Cream when used regularly :
* evens out skintone
* fades pimple marks
* reduces pore size

Edit : After 7 months of using this, my very dark pimple marks really disappeared, its hardly visible now. I'm definitely impressed with this miracle cream! I even stopped using liquid foundation since I started using this coz it already evened out my skintone. I even bought the Mushroom Variant because it has SPF 20! As for my pore size, I really can't compare coz my pores are not that visible.

Rating: Out of 10, i give this an 8.
